Public officials pay attention to thoughtful phone calls, emails, letters and online comments they get from the people they serve. (After all, they work for us!) So when you contact them directly to express your views, make a request or suggestion, or thank them, that gets noticed, and can make a difference in their priorities.

Vermont is blessed with a congressional delegation that has strongly supported progress on rail issues, and state leaders that have made rail a priority in allocating state and federal funds. Even so, it’s important to reach out to help them understand that investing in improved railroad infrastructure must continue to be a priority for Vermont and the U.S.

You can:

  • Thank them for their past support of rail.
  • Ask what they’ve done lately to move the needle forward.
  • Let them know you expect action towards our VRAN-identified priorities to improve rail-based services in Vermont.
  • Ask them to accelerate progress on Vermont’s long list of pending rail improvements, including extending the Vermonter and Ethan Allen Express trains northward.
